Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil: What is this cleansing oil used for and how do you use it

If you were only going to adopt one step from the Korean routine, it would be double cleansing. And for the first step, the Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil has become a go-to: it melts away makeup, SPF, and excess sebum without leaving the skin greasy or tight. We explain everything.

What is the Anua Heartleaf Cleansing Oil used for?

It is a cleansing oil, meaning the first step of your evening cleansing routine. The principle is simple: oil dissolves oil. The plant oils it contains (jojoba, olive, grapeseed, sunflower) capture everything that water alone does not remove: foundation, mascara, waterproof sunscreen, and oxidized sebum that eventually turns into blackheads.

When it comes into contact with water, it turns into a milk and rinses off completely. Result: clean skin, unclogged pores, and no greasy film. The heartleaf extract (Houttuynia cordata), a star plant in K-beauty, also provides a soothing touch.

Key active ingredients

  • Heartleaf extract: soothes and calms reactive or blemish-prone skin.
  • Jojoba, olive, and grapeseed oils: gently dissolve makeup, SPF, and sebum.
  • Emulsifying formula: turns into a milk with water for a clean rinse.

Who is it for?

It is suitable for all skin types, but it is particularly appreciated by:

  • combination to oily skin that gets shiny by the end of the day;
  • skin prone to blackheads and clogged pores;
  • those who wear makeup or SPF every day (so everyone, ideally!);
  • sensitive skin that cannot tolerate makeup removers that require rubbing.

Contrary to popular belief, an oil does not make oily skin greasier: on the contrary, it helps get rid of excess sebum.

When to use it?

In the evening, as the very first step of your routine, on dry skin and with dry hands. In the morning, a simple gentle cleanser is generally enough. If you are not wearing makeup or SPF one evening, you can skip it, but as soon as there is sunscreen, the oil becomes essential.

How to use it?

  1. Take 2 to 3 pumps in your dry hands.
  2. Massage your dry face for 1 minute, focusing on the nose and chin where blackheads settle.
  3. Lightly wet your hands and continue massaging: the oil becomes milky.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
  5. Follow with a gentle foaming cleanser: that is double cleansing.

Clow's tip: on the T-zone, extend the massage to 2 minutes twice a week. With regular use, the small sebum filaments on the nose come out much more easily.

What to pair it with?

For the second step, choose a gentle pH cleanser like the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser or the Arencia Fresh Green Rice Mochi Cleanser. If your pores are your priority, add the Innisfree clay mask once a week. It is also part of our Anti-Blemish Routine Pack.

Is the Anua Heartleaf Cleansing Oil vegan?

Yes. Anua states that this oil is a vegan formula, without ingredients of animal origin, and not tested on animals. Perfect if you are building a 100% plant-based routine.

Frequently asked questions

Does it sting the eyes?

It is appreciated for its gentleness around the eyes. Simply close your eyes while rinsing, as with any makeup remover.

Can it cause pimples?

It is formulated not to clog pores. The key is to emulsify it well with water and then follow with a foaming cleanser so as not to leave any residue.

How long does a bottle last?

With 2 to 3 pumps every evening, count about 2 to 3 months for the 200 ml size.
